Township Officials of Illinois
FOIA, Freedom of Information Act, Township Government
Transparency. A buzz word in today’s news cycles. Whether newly elected or a seasoned veteran of Township government, you know you must follow Illinois’ Freedom of Information Act when someone requests documents and the state’s Open Meetings Act when your Board assembles. Join members of Heyl, Royster’s governmental practice team as we walk through some of the basics of these laws, but then dive into common pitfalls and problems you may face should someone declare to you, the Attorney General, a court, or the public, that your township is “hiding something” and have violated one or both of these laws (whether true or not). This webinar is especially important for newly-elected Township and Road District officials, as anyone and everyone in the Town Hall or Road District garage are governed by these laws.
See what your colleagues are saying from past webinars hosted by John Redlingshafer!
